## 1949 Great Hawaiian Dock Strike
West Coast longshoreman were paid $0.42 more per hour than Hawaii workers for the same firm.
Early on strikers made agreements and concessions to allow for unloading of military cargo, ships with food or medical supplies, and mail (per video drama @bill.etal_2010)
@gordon_2006 reported "poultry famers slaughtered thousands of chicks because they ran out of feed."
